Mangaluru: Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University, through Yenepoya Dental College and the School of Dentistry, Queensland University, Brisbane, Australia, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on March 26, at a programme organised at the dental college’s auditorium. The programme began at 12:15 PM.
The MoU will facilitate student exchange and research programmes between the two Universities.
The dignitaries formally inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp, after which the contents of the MoU were briefed by Dr Arun Bhagwath.
Vice Chancellor, Dr M. Vijayakumar addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of international collaborations. Registrar Dr Gangadhara Somayaji and Head of the School of Dentistry, University of Queensland, Professor Pauline Ford signed the MoU in the presence of the other dignitaries. Prof. Pauline shared her views regarding her experience at Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University and was appreciative of the infrastructure and the facilities available.
Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University, Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, addressed the gathering and presented a momento to Prof. Pauline. The Vice Chancellor presented a sapling to the guest which will be planted in the University campus as a mark of this significant day. Secretary of the Islamic Academy of Education Dr Akhter Hussain presented a painting depicting the local Mangaluru culture.
The programme concluded at 1 PM with the national anthem.
Dr. B.H Sripathi Rao, Dean, Yenepoya Dental College, welcomed the gathering. , and Vice Principal Dr Sham S. Bhat delivered a vote of thanks.
