Mangaluru: A webinar hosted by the Hindi department of University College Mangaluru, in association with Mangalore University and Hindi department of Field Marshal KM Kariappa College, Madikeri, recently, successfully shed light on contemporary Kannada and Hindi women writers and their contributions.
Prof. Prathibha Modaliyar from Mysore University elaborated on how problems of tribes reflected in the works of Kannada and Hindi women writers. Prof. S K Pawar from Karnataka University Dharwad shared his view on Dalit discourse by women writers. Prof. S K Shakir of Poona University and Prof. Namadeva Gowda of Vijapur Akkamahadevi Women’s University too spoke how the status of women society is shown in women’s writings.
Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, Registrar K Raju Mogaveera (KAS), University College Mangalore Principal Dr. Uday Kumar M A and Madikeri Field Marshal K M Cariappa College Principal Dr. Jagath Thimmaiah too opined that writings of women Kannada and Hindi writers is crucial in understanding contemporary society.
This was the first national-level webinar organized by the Hindi department under Mangalore University. University College Mangaluru Hindi PG Coordinator Dr. Suma T R, Head of the department of Hindi Dr. Nagarathna N Rao, Madikeri Field Marshal K M Cariappa college Hindi department Head Dr. Shridhar Hegde, Associate Professor Bistappa Talvar were the conveners of the program.
