Vikaas Group of Institutions holds grand Annual Day Celebrations

Mangaluru: Pomp and gaiety marked Vikaas Group of Institutions’ Annual Day Celebrations here on 16th November 2019 at its campus. Dr. P S Harsha, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru City, and Sri. KC Naik, Managing Trustee, Shri Gopalakrishna Temple, Shakthi Nagara, Mangaluru, were the chief guests at the function.

Dr. P S Harsha, IPS, in his address, said that the period of PUC is the time that gives wings to young minds’ ambitions and careers. He also invoked the students to dream high other than aiming low in their life. He also inspired the students to contribute greatly to society like many Indians are found contributing all over the world.

Sri. KC Naik, in his address, appreciated Sri. Krishna J. Palemar, Chairman, Vikaas Education Trust, for his outstanding contributions in the field of education. Further, profusely quoting Swami Vivekananda, he stressed on the importance of man-making education which aims to mold the character of an individual. He also enlightened the students by directing them not to be controlled by wants; rather wants should be controlled by them.

Mr. Umanatha Kotian, MLA, Moodabidri, guest of honor, advised the students to make the right decisions at this point in their life to reach their destiny. He also praised the quality of education in Mangaluru which brings many students from other parts of Karnataka.
Sri. Krishna J. Palemar, Chairman, Vikaas Education Trust, Mangaluru, in his presidential address, advised the students to inculcate discipline and culture while excelling in their academics. To transform the young minds to be responsible citizens, socially and environmentally relevant programmes are conducted by Vikaas Group of Institutions not only on its own campus but also in many other institutions, he added.

‘Aakrithi’, the college magazine of 2019-20, was released by the chief guests. Sri. Krishna J. Palemar, the Chairman, launched the web column of the Alumni Association of Vikaas PU College on its website. Mr. Purushotham Poojary, Secretary, Dakshina Kannada Amateur Kabaddi Association, and Sri. Jagadeesh Kumble, Arjuna Awardee, Pro Kabaddi Telugu Titans Coach, were felicitated on the occasion. Further, meritorious students who topped in First-Year PU Board Examination of 2019 were felicitated and sports and games state and national level champions were also honored on the occasion. Vikaasians were further mesmerized by the cultural extravaganza by Ocean Kids Dance Academy, Mangaluru, and a variety of cultural programmes performed by the students of Vikaas College of Physiotherapy and Vikaas First Grade College.

Sri. Shankar Bhat, former Mayor, Mangaluru City Corporation, Sri. J. Koragappa, Secretary, Vikaas Education Trust, Sri. Suraj Kumar Kallya, Trustee, Vikaas Education Trust, Sri. Parthasarathi Palemar, Coordinator, Vikaas Group of Institutions, Dr. Manjula A. Rao, Dean, Vikaas Group of Institutions, Dr. Suneel B. M., Principal, Vikaas PU College, Dr. Ajay Thakur, Principal, Vikaas College of Physiotherapy, and Mrs. Ayshwarya K., Principal, Vikaas First Grade College, graced the occasion.

Prof. T. Rajaram Rao, Academic Director, Vikaas PU College, welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Deepika Shetty, lecturer, Dept. of Commerce, Vikaas PU College, proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Deepika Shetty, lecturer, Dept. of Physics, Vikaas PU College, hosted the program.
