Mangaluru: The Tulu club of Sharada Degree College, Devinagara, Talapady organized, ‘Padimancha- Aatid Onji Thamana’, a one-day Inter Class Tulu Cultural Fest for all its students. The Fest is the signature event of the college in its celebrations of the great month of ‘Aati’.
The highlight of the fest was that each class had to depict the rich Tulu culture, tradition, lifestyle in their respective classrooms in a creative and traditional way. In order to do so, the students decorated their entire classrooms, wore traditional attire, arranged Tulu antiques, prepared food items and sang songs. The fest showcased rich Tulu Nadu cuisine, rare antiques, medicinal plants and leaves and more importantly the ancient customs.
Prof. M.B Puranik, the President of Sharada Educational Institutions, inaugurated the fest. In his address, he said, “Nature is a special gift to humans and our Tuluva forefathers have used it in a special way for the prayerful worship in remembering all the God’s of nature. Our protection and survival are because of nature and we have to take care of it like a child.” Dr. Kabinale Balakrishna Bharadwaj, the Principal of the college presided over the function where he highlighted the specialty of ‘Aatid Onji Dina’.
The programme was graced by the presence of Mr.Vivek Thanthri, CEO, Sharada Vidyanikethan, Mr.Vinayak B.G, Mrs. Sushma Dinkar, Mrs. Lathanjali Rai, Principals of Sharada Vidyanikethan, Mr.Madhav.K, Vice Principal of the Sharada Degree College, Mr.Preetham Shetty and Mrs.Supriya M.K, the convenors of ‘Padimancha’.
The IIIrd Bcom, ‘NOGA’ Team won the first place, while Ist Bcom, ‘UJJERA’ bagged the second place and IIIrd Bba, ‘MUTTALE’ secured the third place. Mr. Manuraj Shetty compered the programme, Mr. Preetham Shetty, convenor of the fest welcomed the gathering while Ms. Sahana proposed the vote of thanks.
