Mangaluru: Engineers’ Day was celebrated at the St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute (ITI) on 18th September 2019. The celebration commenced with a meditative prayer session lead by Mr. Wilson, a member of the faculty.
Mr.Naveen Kumar, Principal, B.A.ITI, Thumbe was the Chief Guest of the programme. He is also a State Advisory Council member for NSS. Mr. Roshan Dsouza, Principal of the institution welcomed the gathering. The celebration was inaugurated by lighting a lamp. A tribute was paid by showering flowers on the portrait of one of the greatest Engineers of India Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Vishvesvaraya in whose honor Engineers’ Day is celebrated in India.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr Naveen Kumar said, ” We belong to the field of engineering. Engineering has created marvels. Sir M. Vishvesvarayya has been the greatest inspiration for all engineers, not only of India but the world. He believed ‘work is worship’. His integrity and commitment are legendary. When knowledge is used for the betterment of humankind, the world becomes a better place to live”.
On this occasion, an information session on NSS was also organized. Speaking at the programme, the Chief Guest said, “NSS trains students to give back to society. In the process, the youth acquire leadership skills, learn team spirit and unity, and thus develop into the responsible citizens of India who rise above creed and caste discrimination and contribute to the development of the society”. He also gave some insights into the value system, a person should develop and urged students to join NSS in large numbers.
Mr Alwyn Menezes, Vice Principal proposed vote of thanks. Mr Robin Vas compered the programme. Mr Noel Lobo, Training Officer, and Mrs. Daina Fernandes, Convener of the programme were also present on the dais. The programme concluded with National Anthem.
