Sahyadri College Awarded Two Projects by VGST on Cyber Security and Artificial Intel

Mangaluru: Two Projects from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering were selected by VGST for the financial assistance of Rs. 80 Lakhs in total during the year 2019-20 to establish following Centre of Excellence (CoE)

  1. Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensics Intelligence and Cyber Security.
  2. Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) was constituted in October 2008 under the Chairmanship of distinguished Scientist Bharat Ratna – Prof. CNR Rao, FRS Chairman of the Science Advisory Council to Hon’ble Prime Minister, Govt. of India and National Research Professor, JNCASR. It is an apex advisory body to recommend Science and Technology Programs relevant to the mandate of the Department of Science & Technology (DST). The objective is to encourage and promote Science and Technology Education and Research in the State. VGST plays a vital role in catalyzing, strengthening educational institutions to meet scientific and technological needs.

Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensics Intelligence and Cyber Security Cell Dr. Ananth Prabhu G – Principal Investigator and Prof. Harisha – Co-Principal Investigator. The main objective of the Project – Establishment of Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensic Intelligence is to establish and create a Centre of Excellence in benchmark framework for Network and System forensics for the benefit of the Modern Societies, Capacity Building to Law Enforcement Agencies, Legal Practitioners including Judges, Faculty Fraternity & Students of Higher Learning and Offer Courses on Cyber Security with Interactive portal through Centre of Excellence.
Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Dr. Pushpalatha K – Principal Investigator Kaward and Prof. Duddela Sai Prashanth – Co-Principal Investigator. The main aim of establishing an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence is to foster Groundbreaking Research, to develop solutions that address societal problems, and to become an Artificial Intelligence Competency Centre that provides a platform for collaboration between Industry and Academia. It would also help to impart AI-based high-quality training for the students and faculty members involved in UG, PG, and Doctoral programs and engage them in design thinking.

Sahyadri encourages students to involve, interact, and experiment to build their dreams. “Walk-in with an Idea and Walk-out with the Product” is a novel concept which involves Project Based Learning. The modern, state of the art infrastructure provides holistic, tech-savvy opportunities for the development of students. In-house skill oriented programs and industry-academia interface enable students to learn future technology with hands-on experience and practical exposure to solve socially relevant issues. On-campus startups and industries that have given a tremendous boost to the students for innovation, incubation, internships, and research. Built on the lines of the “Make in India” concept where students are encouraged to pursue their ideas and innovate continuously through the Centre of Excellence (CoE). Thus bridging the gap between Knowledge and Practice. The CoEs are a full-fledged 24X7 technical workspace to facilitate the research and exploration.
