On the auspicious occasion of the Decennial Celebrations of the Community Radio Sarang of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, an Inter-Parish Cricket Tournament was held in the College Centenary Ground on 6 and 7 April, 2019. Sri Stany Alvares, President of RACHANA inaugurated the tournament. Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Educational Institutions presided over the programme. Inaugurating the tournament Sri Stany Alvares congratulated and appreciated the community-oriented activities of Radio Sarang.
25 teams from in around Mangaluru participated in the tournament. United Friends, Arva won the Winner’s Trophy and Loretto Padavu bagged the Runner Up Trophy. Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Educational Institutions honoured the winners and complemented the organizers for bringing together the youth through the sport events. He also stressed that youth, instead of creating chaos in the society, should come together and work for a noble cause. The Radio Sarang has been doing such noble activities for the past many years, he added.
Renowned Playwright Sri Francis Fernandes, Cascia, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal of the College, Rev Fr Ravi Santhosh Kamath, SJ, Primus D’Souza, Proprietor of Prince Caterors and Princeton D’Souza were present at the programme. The programme was coordinated by Mr Roshan Crasta of Radio Sarang.
