Moodbidri: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) held the annual NSS Camp 2019-20 from October 29 to November 4 at St Joseph Higher Primary School, Thaccode, Moodbidri.
The Camp was inaugurated by Rev Fr Naveen Prakash D’Souza, parish priest, Holy Cross Church, Thaccode and blessed by Rev Fr Praveen Martis SJ, principal of St Aloysius College (Autonomous). Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, presided over the programme.
Winnifred Pinto, headmistress, St Joseph Higher Primary School, Thaccode, Manoj Alvarez, president, Hosabettu Grama Panchayat, Roshan Pinto, vice-president, Parish Council, Thaccode, Francis Mendonca, Parish Council, Thaccode and Sr M Lydwin Jyothi, head, Genazono Bethany Convent, Thaccode were the chief guests.
During the seven days of the camp, several educational sessions, agricultural visits, trekking, cultural programmes, shramadhan and yoga training programmes were conducted. Besides this, the following special programmes were conducted- Personality Development, Awareness on shramadan, Solid waste management, Environmental protection and cleanliness, Cultural Programmes for the localites, Road Repairing, Simple and Friendly Life, Information about Health, Census about the Condition of Village Women, Awareness on Dengue and Malaria Eradication, Talk on “Youth and the Crisis” by Fr Felix Lobo and Talk on “Role of Youth in the Development of Society” by Sri Jason Pereira.
The valedictory programme was held on November 4 at 10.30 AM.
Dr Alwyn D’Sa, Controller of Examinations, St Aloysius College, Winnifred Pinto, and Sr. Filfida, Genazono Bethany Convent, Thaccode were the chief guests. Rev Fr Pradeep Antony SJ, Director of Arrupe Block, presided over the programme.
The entire seven-day camp was organized and directed by NSS officers, Alwin D’Souza, Preema V Tauro, Avinash , Vidya Kumari and Sajith Nikith D’Costa, III B.Com., along with NSS student leaders – Sparsha, Darshan, Shreya and Jeeva.
