Bengaluru: S Nijalingappa College to host an international webinar to highlight the ‘Impact of Social Media on Higher Education’ on November 7, 2020.

Under the initiative of the Department of Psychology, K.L.E Society’s S.Nijalingappa College situated in Rajajinagar will be hosting an international webinar to start a conversation about the impact of social media on higher education sponsored by UGC STRIDE Component-1.

The webinar will be hosted on the video conferencing platform Cisco Webex on November 7. Each talk will be followed by a Q&A segment where the audience can add-to/ raise pertinent questions to the speakers.

Pandemic and social media

The pandemic has made social-distancing an intricate part of our lives, life resembling normalcy has only been possible using online tools. Various business sectors including education have moved its base to these online platforms- bringing education to the homes of students.

Engaging in these online modes of education, students are confined to their homes and go day after day blurring the lines between school space and home space. Though this neat solution has enabled a whole new style of pedagogy that can conduct learning in a safe environment, parents and educators have been quick to criticise this method.

To address this rising concern for our safest solution possible, the college is hosting a one-day webinar on the subject ‘Impact of Social Media on Higher Education’. The webinar will feature expert speakers from across the country who will divulge with the audience their opinions on this subject.
