The Department Of Electrical And Electronics Engineering in association with the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Unit of the NMAM Institute of Technology celebrated the 150th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in a very big way.

The departments participated in a “Gandhi Global Solar Yatra and organized a ‘Solar Student Ambassador Workshop 2019’ where about 50 students from the Second, Third and Final Year BE Course, became aware of renewable energy sources and learnt about how to assemble a solar lamp. The students also learnt about different forms of renewable resources and how to utilize them the meet their daily needs.

Coordinated by Associate Professor Dr Anitha Marina Colaco and Assistant Professor Aparna Palimaru of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the workshop enabled each student to build their own Solar Lamp which they then retained for their use. The students then pledged themselves to “Non Violence against the environment and to promote the use of solar lights”.
