Mangaluru: To commemorate the 73rd Independence Day, “National Integration Day” was celebrated at the St Aloysius Pre-University College with great fervour.
The day also was observed as Ethnic Day with over 4,000 students dressed in traditional attires. Two students each from 62 batches, dressed in the unique attire of different states, participated in ‘Ethnic King & Queen’ competition through a ramp walk.
Speaking on the occasion, Muralikrishna G M, vice-principal, Science, highlighted the importance of patriotism among the youth which will help in sustaining and preserving National integration. He urged the students to awaken within themselves the spirit of integrity and share it among their families, friends and the world.
A cultural extravaganza comprising of dance, drama and songs added colour to the event and was a feast for the eyes. The participants of II PU 22nd batch were awarded as the Ethnic King and Queen in the II PU category and the participants of I PU 21st batch were awarded as the Ethnic King and Queen in the I PU category.
Fr Vinod Paul S J, finance officer, SAPUC, Charlotte D’Souza, vice-principal, Commerce and Arts and the deans, Ganesh Amin, Dr Pradeep M and Kiran Shetty were also present.
The programme was compered by Riya Carol and Anusha Shetty.
The Melange 2019 was concluded with the National Anthem.
