Mangalore: “Literature is all about building bridges between the minds”, said columnist, writer Brian Mark Mendonsa. He delivered a special lecture on ‘Teaching English to undergraduate in the post-colonial world’ at University College Mangalore here on Tuesday. The program was organized by the English Association of the college.
As a native of Goa, Brian Mark Mendonsa spoke about the influence of Portuguese on Goa and English literature. He was concerned about the young people too much involved in social media and sadly stated that Mangalore’s Crosswords (book store) are lacking native English works. He interacted with the students and read two poems written by him.
Prof. Pattabhirama Somayaji also addressed the gathering. English Department Head Dr. N K Rajalakshmi and others were present. Chelsea Singh welcomed the guests, while Harshith V presented the vote of thanks.
