Mangaluru: Kanachur Islamic Education Trust, Natekal Mangaluru celebrated Founder’s day to honour Haji U K Monu, the president and chairman of the Kanachur Islamic Education Trust on Saturday, July 13, at the Kanachur Medical College Auditorium.
The students, staff and stakeholders of Kanachur Trust managed Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Kanachur Institute of Management & Sciences, Kanachur Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Kanachur Pre-University College for Women, Kanachur College of Physiotherapy, Kanachur College of Nursing Sciences, Kanachur Public School, Kanachur Pre-School all gathered in large numbers to thank the founder for his undying efforts to make the institution flourish in a small village like Natekal.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Subramanya Yadapadithaya, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University said, “We should have more human excellence than professional excellence. Skills are becoming obsolete faster than anything else. We need to transform ourselves to fit into the changing times. Human values should get importance and teachers have a very important role to play in inculcating values in the minds of the children.” He was earlier felicitated for becoming the first native Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University.
Speaking on the occasion Haji U K Monu, founder of the Kanachur Group of Institutions highlighted the need to develop society. “Development should reach people. Every individual should become a part of the development process. There should not be any division in society. We should nurture a culture of mutual respect and collaboration. Dreaming is a never-ending process and resting is out of the question,” he said.
Prof Dr. M Abdul Rahiman, Advisory Board Chairman of Kanachur Academy of General Education spoke about the need for quality improvement in the Indian education system and warned about the coming of foreign universities to India. “There is a chance of those universities attracting excellent teachers and it can cause a threat to the Indian educational institutions. Excellence is the only way to survive,” he said.
Students of the Kanachur Group of Institutions presented an entertainment programme after the formal event. Kanachur Abdul Rehaman, Director of Kanachur Medical College welcomed the gathering. Kanachur Medical College Dean Dr. HS Virupaksha proposed the vote of thanks.
Zohra Monu, Vice Dean Dr Shreesha Kandige, Chief Medical Administrative officer Dr Rohan Monis, heads of all Kanachur Group of Institutions were also present.
