Hindi unites the country, says Udupi Evening College Principal Dr Sukanya Mary

Mangalore: Those who choose Hindi as our official language were not Hindi-speaking people, but they believed that Hindi can unite the country. They also gave prominence to the local languages,” said Udupi Poorna Prajna Evening College Principal Dr Sukanya Mary.

She was addressing a gathering at a seminar and student felicitation program organised by the PG Department of Hindi of university College Mangaluru and Mangalore branch of the Bank of Baroda at the Shivarama Karantha Sabhabhavana on Monday. “Hindi helps people to get jobs across the country and supports the growth of the nation,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Bank of Baroda felicitated Rakshitha, the first rank holder in Hindi M.A with a cash prize of Rs. 11,000 and second rank holder Ashwini Poojary with Rs. 7,500. Mangalore City Regional Manager Dinesh Pai anticipated willingness among students to learn Hindi. Principal Dr A Harisha congratulated students, as well as the Bank for their motivation.

Bank of Baroda officials Maya S, Rajeshwari P, and Santhosh also spoke. Hindi PG Department Head Dr Suma T R, Hindi UG Head Nagarathna R Rao, Lecturers Gurudatt, Sanjeev Kumar, and Pawan were present. Shravya N mastered the ceremony.
