Hindi can unite multi-lingual India: Manish Kumar

Mangaluru: Hindi is the only language which can unite multilingual India, said Mangalore International Airport Air Traffic Control Manager Manish Kumar.

Speaking as a chief guest during the closing ceremony of the Hindi week celebrations, organized by the UG and PG department of Hindi at University College Mangalore here on Monday, he highlighted the career opportunities in AAI with Hindi. Presiding over the function, principal Dr. Uday Kumar M A, opined that some classic literary works in Kannada can be translated to Hindi.

Evening College principal Dr. Ramakrishna B M said that Hindi language-related activities help in the growth of the language.

As a part of the Hindi week celebrations, an intercollegiate essay competition was organized on ‘Gandhi and Hindi’. K Sushma Rai from Besant Women’s college bagged the first prize. Apart from this, news reading and Hindi quiz were conducted for the staff and creative writing, pick and speak, seminar, patriotic song (group) competitions were held for the students. Prizes were distributed to the winners on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Bank of Baroda awarded cash prizes to students who scored the highest and second highest marks in Hindi M.A of Mangalore University (2017-19) to encourage them to choose Hindi for higher studies in non-Hindi speaking areas. General Manager Nagaraj and Deputy General Manager Ramachandar handed over certificate and cash amount of Rs 11,500 to Anushree (First) and Rs 7500 to Neeraja Kamath (second).

Also, library staffer Vasanthi was felicitated on the occasion.

Department of PG studies in Hindi coordinator Dr. Suma T R, Hindi department head Dr. Nagarathna N Rao, college librarian Vanaja and others were present.
