Godrej Disha Centre inaugurated at St Aloysius ITI

Mangaluru: Since technology is advancing at the speed of light, the upgradation of training facilities to match current trends becomes even more vital. Keeping this in mind, St Aloysius ITI College has collaborated with Godrej Appliances to setup a ‘Godrej Disha Centre’ at the institute. This centre was formally inaugurated in a ceremony held at the St Aloysius ITI Auditorium, on Friday, October 11 afternoon.

This is the fourth such collaborative venture by St Aloysius ITI and it can be recalled that the institute had established similar ventures by tying up with Hyundai Motors Pvt Ltd and TATA Motors Pvt Ltd.

The Godrej Disha Centre was inaugurated by former College Director Dr Leo D’Souza SJ and St Aloysius Institutions Rector Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ presided over the ceremony. Ramakrishna Poonja ITI (Mulky) Principal YN Salian was the chief guest of the programme.

The formal programme commenced with a welcome dance performed by Sewing Technology students. Principal Roshan D’Souza escorted the dignitaries to the dais and Fr Cyril D’mello welcomed the gathering.

Afterwards, the Centre was officially inaugurated by untying a bunch of Areca nut flowers.

Addressing the gathering, Ravi Bhat said

Godrej National Head (Service) Ravi Bhat, National Head (Training and Quality) Shakeel Jamadar, Regional Service Manager (South) Gregory Paulose, SKIP General Secretary Dr F Joseph Stanley, Zonal Business Head D Ramachandran, Gonzaga School Principal Fr Melwyn A Lobo SJ, and others were present.

Aloysius college has its pride and name. Students coming out of the college have a good calibre. This collaboration of Godrej is our 24th industry-partnership. We should maintain this centre of excellence for the environment and as a social cause.”

He also said that the students who are technically skilled will be employed in any industry.

SKIP General Secretary Dr F Joseph Stanley, in his speech, said, “In our daily life, It is difficult to get technicians who are well-versed with the modern technical skills. Hence, to train the youth in modern technology and help them be employed, this collaboration with the industry is important.”

He also mentioned that about 220 private Technical institutes collaborated with SKIP and that St Aloysius ITI is ranked among the top 10.

Chief guest YN Salian was felicitated during the programme Training Officer Noel Lobo.

In his address, he said, “St Aloysius ITI is the best institute in Karnataka which is in the heart of the city with very good infrastructure.The NCVT certificate given to the students has a value in every country.”

He inspired the students by giving the example of Dr Abdul Kalams, and urged the students to respect their elders and teachers.

An agreement copy of the collaboration was handed over by Bhat to Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ and Fr Cyril D’mello SJ.

Addressing the gathering, Shakeel Ahmed said, “India is a young country which is rich in human resources. Industries are growing, yet there is unemployment due to lack of skill. If the students are technically skilled, they will be employed in any industry.”

In his speech, Regional Service Manager South Gregory Paulose said that the Godrej Disha centre setup in MRAC lab would be very beneficial to the students and they should make the best use of this facility.

In his presidential address, Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ said, “The collaboration with the industry is to give the best to the students. As Godrej Appliances believes in quality, St. Aloysius strives to give quality education and technical skills to the students.”

Talking to the students, he said, “You must find the answer for why you were born? When you come to know the answer, your life will become meaningful and filled with divine grace.”

Later, Technical Trainer Shrana Gouda and Pinto Aluminium proprietor Arun Pinto were felicitated for their support in setting up the Godrej Disha Centre

Principal Roshan D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks while Junior Training Officer Robin Vas compered the programme.
