Mangaluru: Excellent Pre-University College organised a programme marking India’s 73rd Independence Day at Kallabettu, Moodbidri on August 15.
Excellent Group honorary president and former minister Abhayachandra Jain was the chief guest of the event.
Addressing the gathering, Jain said, “India is moving forward in all areas of development. From aeroplanes to Chandrayaan 2, we have come a long way. We have had unprecedented growth in the education sector due to which our youth are able to bag top posts. There is no doubt that India will become a ‘Vishwaguru’ or universal guru in the coming days.”
“India obtained independence through the sacrifices of many people and we must not forget them. The students should go on to serve Mother India in the future,” he added.
School captain Ganesh Karnik welcomed the dignitaries. Kannada Department lecturer Ramakrishna Bhat delivered the vote of thanks.
After the conclusion of the formal programme, the high school and pre-university students put up a cultural programme.
