Mumbai: Just days after surpassing Warren Buffet, one of the most successful investors globally, to become the world’s seventh richest man, Reliance Industries (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s net worth is now richer that Alphabet (Google’s parent company) co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. He is now the world’s sixth-richest person.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the business tycoon is now worth $72.4 billion after RIL’s shares saw a 3 per cent surge, taking his wealth up by $2.17 billion.

Alphabet co-founder Larry Page saw a drop in value to $71.6 billion after a drop in US tech shares on Monday. Sergey Brin’s value stood at $69.4 billion.

Ambani’s wealth has seen a significant increase after a series of investments in Reliance Jio, after he took a hit during the initial part of the nationwide lockdown. Compared to the pre-Covid times, Ambani’s wealth is down by one per cent. As per the index, the 63-year-old is currently the only Asian business tycoon in the world’s top 10 richest people last month.

Reliance Industries, which is India’s most valued company by market capitalisation (m-cap), now stands as the world’s 51st most-valued company by m-cap.
