We will release more funds for flood victims if required: CM BSY

Vijayapur: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has assured the people of the Karnataka that the state government will release more relief funds, excluding the Rs 1200 crores sanctioned by the Centre, if required.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, after offering the ‘Bagina’ to the river Krishna at the Alamatti Dam, he said, “The Centre has already released Rs 1200 crores towards towards the state’s floods victims and we will ask for more in the coming days. If required, the state government is ready to sanction additional amount.”

He said that he had already discussed the flood relief issue with the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

“This is the first time that the government is giving Rs 5 lakhs to each of the flood victims who have lost their homes. A report stating that the state had incurred damages of Rs 34000 crores was submitted to the Centre. The report was sent back saying that some rectifications need to be made. We will set those things right and bring in more relief fund,” said BSY.
