Vijayapura: The city recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius on May 3 and people are tired of the scorching sun and the hot wind.
The weather forecast centre of Hitnalli Agriculture University has recorded 42 degrees, 41.2 degrees and 42 degrees temperatures on May 1, May 2 and May 3 respectively.
The harsh sunshine would begin from 8 AM itself and it is difficult to move about outside between 11 AM and 5 PM. “In Vijayapura, which comes under ‘hot island’ effect, the temperature of is more by 1 or 2 degree celsius than the weather forecast centre. This increased temperature of the environment is good for the farmers. If it continues up to May 15, the pre-monsoon rainfall will be good. With the scorching sunshine, the weed seeds in the field will be destroyed and unwanted insects will die. It will be helpful for the farmers, he added.
On May 3, Bagalkot registered a temperature of 41 degree celsius, Bellary-41, Haveri-41, Gadag-41, Dharwad-40, Bidar-39, Kalaburagi-43, Yadagiri-42, Raichur-42 and Koppal recorded 40 degrees.
