Vijayapura: State Home Minister M B Patil said here on Monday, April 22 that he has not received any official confirmation on the death toll of people from Karnataka in the Sri Lanka serial bomb blasts.
He said, “I have not received the exact information regarding how many from our state have died in the Sri Lanka bomb blasts and this is a very sensitive case to react.”
“Even though the Ministry of External Affairs has said that Hanumatharayappa, Lakshminarayana, Ramesh, M Rangappa, Chandrashekhar and others have died, we are in constant touch with the ministry for confirmation”, he added.
Patil has said that once the confirmed information is made available by the external ministry, he would disclose the same to the people of the state.
He has condemned the incident.
Meanwhile, former prime minister and Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda has also condemned the attack and given a call to fight against terrorism unitedly.
HDD has said that he had a telephonic conversation with the Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and has requested her to help protect the Kannadigas in Sri Lanka and take action against the attack.
