Vijayapura: In the first phase of the vaccination drive, the much-awaited Covid-19 vaccination was administered to 701 health workers.
The first person to recieve was Lakshman Kolugi (57) a group ‘D’ worker of the Health Department.
Kolugi told reporters that to monitor any adevrse side effcets after the admistration of the vaccine, he was made to sit for 30 mins.
He also requested everyone to get vaccinated to stop the spread of the virus.
A total of 735 were vaccinated in the district. But due to health issues, 34 persons could not be vaccinated.
For the first phase, a total of 15802 beneficiaries have been idenitified for vaccination.
The entire vaccination drive was conducted in a total of eight vaccination centres set up across the district. The authorities aim to complete the vaccination drive within 3 days.
The vaccination drive started on January 16, under the supervision of officials such as District Surgeon. To mointor the situation, Deputy Commissioner, P. Sunil Kumar and other officials visited the District Government Hospital.
There were visits by MLA, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Chairman, Karnataka State Seed and Organic Certification Agency, Vijugouda Patil at the vaccination centre.
