Vijayapura: Asserting that the government has the plan to expand industries to various tier-II and tier-III cities of the State, Jagdish Shettar, Minister for Medium and Large Scale Industries has said that the investors meet would soon be conducted in Vijayapura district.

Addressing media persons during his visit here on Friday, he said that the meet comprising two to three districts would be held in Vijayapura where investors would be called to invest and start some industries.

“ Before taking the final call, I would hold a meeting with the local traders and business community on the possibility of the meet and elicit their opinion about it. After that, a final date would be fixed for the event”, he said.

Admitting that most of the industries are getting concentrated only in Bengaluru which is making the place congested, he said that the BJP government wishes to decongest it by expanding the industries to other districts of the State, based on the possibilities.

“ We have been noticing that the majority of the industries are located in Bengaluru only. Because of this, people of other districts are getting migrated to Bengaluru for employment. If the districts are set up in tier two and tier three cities, then it would not only decongest Bengaluru but also give employment to local people in their districts itself”, he said.

Shettar said that as per the new industrial policy, the rule has been made that the new industries should provide job opportunities to most of the local people so that they get employment.

He claimed that during his visit to various industries areas of the State, he found that the industries have followed the norms and given employment to local people.

With regard to the Mulawad industrial area which is being developed, he said that in the first phase, 560-acre land is being developed by providing basic facilities.

He hoped that soon, investors will start coming and setting up their industries.

“ Our objective is to create an industrial friendly atmosphere in the State to ensure that more people open industries and provide employment to people”, he said.

MLA, A. S. Patil Nadahalli, Former Minister, S. K. Bellubbi, DC, Sunil Kumar, and others were present.
