Vijayapura: In view of rising Covid cases, Former Minister and Chairman of BLDE medical college and hospital announced to increase the beds for Covid patients but also to slash the medical charges to help the patients.
During his visit to the hospital and holding a meeting with the senior doctors on Wednesday, he said that 250 beds were reserved for Covid patients in BLDE hospital which will be augmented to 500. A total of 300 oxygenated beds are available in the hospital for the patients. Besides this, 200 isolation beds are arranged.
He claimed that the hospital is charged 70% less than the prescribed amount by the government for private hospitals. He said that the subsidized rates would be continued for poor Covid patients. While the government has fixed Rs.25,000 for ICU ventilator, the BLDE is charging only Rs. 8,000, he said.
He also claimed that all other emergency facilities such as CT Scan and Remdesivir injection is also available in the hospital.
Patil said that since 600 beds are reserved for non-Covid patients, their treatment will continue as usual. He said that medical facilities for non covid patients admitted in general wards are made completely free in all departments.
