Bengaluru: Two cases of immunisation in Karnataka have come under the scanner after they started showing adverse effects on February 20.
As per the Deputy Director of Immunisation, Department of Health and Family Welfare. Dr Rajani Nageshrao, high-grade fever, chills, and one episode of convulsions was reported from the Ballari district two hours after vaccination. The man has been identified as a 38-year-old male pourakarmika with no history of epilepsy and was vaccinated on February 19.
To investigate the situation further, he was shifted to the district hospital. The subject is still being examined and whether a case of convulsions without a history of epilepsy is a cause for concern is still being examined.
There have been the previous case of subjects developing convulsions after vaccination but this is the first time they did not have a medical history
Another case was reported by a 40-year-old female pourakarmika who was vaccinated on February 10, She began to develop fever and chills towards the end of the day. She was taken to SDM hospital on February 18 for treatment, and she continues to be treated there.
