Chikkodi: In a curious turn of events, the Congress high command has directed their incumbent MP from Chikkodi, Prakash Hukkeri not to file his nomination papers from the constituency. They have also asked him not to launch his campaign till Monday.
According to sources, the Congress is likely to issue the B form to BJP leader Ramesh Katti, who is expected to defect to the party following the BJP’s decision to give a ticket to Annasaheb Jolle instead of him.
If sources in the BJP are to be believed, Congress leader Ramesh Jarakiholi was instrumental in ensuring a ticket to Jolle. “This has upset the party cadres. Ramesh Katti has got an offer from the Congress,” confirmed a leader close to Katti.
