Belagavi: The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA K S Eshwarappa accused former chief minister Siddaramaiah of playing caste and vote bank politics, here on Wednesday, April 3.
He said that Siddaramaiah knew nothing but do caste politics.
Eshwarappa said, “How many people from Kuruba community have benefitted from Siddaramaiah? Political leaders like A H Vishwanath, G Shankar have been betrayed by him. Even though they are satisfied with his leadership, he has given tickets to the Kuruba leaders, where they are expected to lose.”
“State Minister for Horticulture and Agro Marketing Shamanur Shivashankarappa and other leaders have planned strategically and given tickets to the leaders of Kuruba community in the constituencies where favourable results cannot be expected”, he added.
Eshwarappa said, “I am not a Kuruba community leader. I am a nationalist. If I directly tell Siddramaiah that he is casteist, then he will pounce on me. It is only Siddaramaiah who has benefitted by playing caste politics.”
He said that during the time of Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state, the minorities had benefitted from the relevant schemes for them.
“If Siddaramaiah proves that he has done much more than what we have done to the backward classes and minority section, I will do whatever he says”, said Eshwarappa.
