Belagavi: The Bharatiya Janata Party delegation led by Rajya Sabha MP Prabhakar Kore met Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, here on Friday, May 3 night, with a request to release the water from Koyna Dam to River Krishna.
The delegation comprising MLA Shashikala Jolle, Bagalkot MP P C Gaddigoudar, MLA P Rajeev and BJP leader Annasaheb Jolle had a meeting for over 30 minutes and brought to the notice of the CM that the River Krishna had completely dried off.
MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath said that Devandra Fadnavis had heard their plea with utmost patience and had directed his state’s principal secretary of water resource department to release the water in phases.
He said, “We have been told that in the first and second stages, 4 TMC (2 each) of water will be released to River Krishna.”
Mahantesh said, “During the delegation meet, CM Fadnavis had also contacted State Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar and spoke to him about the issue. DKShi has agreed to meet him with the state coalition government delegation in Mumbai to sign a memorandum in terms of water release to River Krishna, once the election model code of conduct is revoked.”
