Belagavi: In relation to the tensions and border dispute between Karnataka-Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader and spokesperson, Sanjay Raut has said that whatever decision the Supreme Court pronounces over the Belagavi dispute, Maharashtra will accept and abide by it.
Speaking to ANI on Sunday, Raut said that it was a 70-year-old fight of the Marathi speaking community of the district and its neighbouring areas to be included under Maharashtra.
“As the matter is sub judice in the Apex Court for the past 14 years, the decision is expected to be out anytime soon and we will accept it,” he said.
It can be recalled that recently, Maharashtra state health minister Rajendra Patil Yedravkar was detained, while he tried to enter the district and was left at the borders by the police.
As retaliation to this, Raut had challenged the Karnataka government and police stating that he would be coming to the district on Saturday, January 18 and attending the martyr’s day programme organized by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), no matter what the consequences are.
