Belagavi: It looks like Yamakanmardi constituency is going to witness a fight between Jarkiholi brothers.
It is now official that Lakhan Jarkiholi, industrialist and younger brother of Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi is with the BJP. Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi, on Friday, March 30 said that there is no reason why Lakhan should not be welcomed into the BJP folds.
“Lakhan wants to contest against his brother and highly influential Congress politician Satish Jarkiholi in Yamakanmardi assembly constituency, which is reserved for ST Category,” Angadi said.
Earlier, Lakhan too was close to the Congress, but his equations with the grand old party went wrong when he demanded for a ticket from Yamakanmardi and his elder brother refused to give away the
constituency.
With this, Lakhan broke ties with the Congress and met BJP high command and requested for a ticket to contest against his brother.
Party insiders say that in all likelihood Lakhan may be issued ticket from the constituency of his choice and if this happens the fight between brothers will bring a lot of attention towards Yamakanmardi.
