Gokak all set to witness fight of Jarakiholi brothers-1

Belagavi: The Jarakiholi brothers are all set to fight it out in the upcoming by-polls. While rebel leader Ramesh Jarakiholi, who broke ties with the Congress and joined the BJP is all set to fight from Gokak on the BJP ticket, his brother Lakhan Jarakiholi is the Congress candidate. While this was already an interesting development, the decision of MLA and another Jarakiholi sibling-Sathish Jarakiholi to file nominations as a candidate from Gokak has made way for discussions in the political circles.

The sources close to the Jarakiholi brothers say that Sathish Jarakiholi decided to file nominations from Gokak fearing that Lakhan may back out at the last minute.

Lakhan declared a war against his own brother Ramesh Jarakiholi by filing nominations recently for Gokak on Congress ticket. However, Sathish's decision to plunge into the by-polls has taken all by surprise.

When asked about the same, Sathish said that he has only filed a dummy nomination to support Lakhan. "Many file dummy nominations to motivate the candidates they support. The Congress party has already issued B-Form to Lakhan," said Sathish putting to rest all speculations.

Meanwhile, JDS Candidate Ashok Pujari too is a strong candidate. He was originally a BJP man, who was hurt by the fact that the BJP issued ticket to Ramesh instead of him. After breaking ties with the BJP, he turned to the Congress. However, disappointment awaited him even in the Congress as Lakhan was issued a ticket. With no other option left, he has now joined the JDS.

One may have to wait and watch as to how the Gokak voters would respond to this fight of Jarakiholi brothers, especially when the Congress and the JDS are hellbent on teaching a lesson to Ramesh Jarakiholi, who led the rebel movement in the coalition government and became responsible for the collapse of the coalition government.
