Belagavi: From Saturday June 26, anyone entering Karnataka from Maharashtra must produce Covid negative report, in order to effectively prevent the spread of the Delta Plus variant of Covid-19, informed the State Government.
Due to an increase of Delta Plus cases in the neighbouring state, the authorities decided to maintain a rigorous border vigil.
Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mahantesh Hiremath inspected the facilities at the checkpoints on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border at Nipani on Saturday and asked the officials to ensure that those who cross the border produce Covid negative reports.
Residents of Karnataka entering the State from Maharashtra will have to undergo RT-PCR tests at the border before entering. He stated that their test results would be delivered to their home addresses later.
To make it easier for people to get RT-PCR tests, a makeshift Covid testing centre has been put up at the Koganoli checkpoint on the border at Nipani.
