Belagavi: BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal accused Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa of playing vendetta politics after the latter withdrew his security cover.
He was given special security cover by the district police after intelligence inputs revealed that some “anti-Hindu and fascist” forces were conspiring to attack the legislator.
MLA Yatnal wrote to the CM after his security was withdrawn, claiming that his life is under threat as he is a staunch believer in the Hindutva ideology.
Now that his security has been withdrawn, the MLA has alleged that this was done as a result of his criticism of CM Yediyurappa and his family, especially his son. He stated that the CM is playing vendetta politics.
Assuring that no one can stop him from speaking up for the Hindus, he warned that if anything were to happen to him, the government would be responsible.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Anupam Agarwal told reporters that the MLA would still be provided routine security that his given to all legislators. Only special features such as the escort vehicle service have been stopped.
