Belagavi: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who was on an inspection of flood-affected areas has requested the people of the state, here on Thursday, August 8 to donate whatever is possible towards the flood victims of North Karnataka.
Speaking to the media he said, “According to the estimates, we will have to construct around 3000 houses in the flood-hit areas at an estimated cost of Rs 5000 crores. I give a call to all the people of the state, wherever they are, to kindly be of help during this time of crisis and donate towards the flood victims.”
“I’ve directed the officials to speed up the rescue operations and evacuations and have also told them to use adequate number of boats and helicopters for it”, he said and added that there are no issues in the relief camps and everything is arranged.
Thanking Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murthy, CM BSY said, “Sudha Murthy has generously sanctioned fund of Rs 10 crore towards the flood victims, to which I’m grateful to her.”
Meanwhile, he has assured of staying in the district for three more days and would take the charge of looking after all the relief operations.
