Belagavi: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has reached to help get treatment for a 17-month-old child, who is ailing from the deadly dengue illness.
Sujatha, mother of Supraj (the infant) a resident of Gokak’s Guruwarapete, was in desperate need of money for her child’s treatment.
According to sources, Supraj has been ailing from the life-threatening disease for the past week and was admitted to the KLE Hospital just two days back. As he was being treated in the ICU, the doctors said they would treat the child only if the bills were paid.
As news of the child’s predicament reached BSY, he directed the Gokak tahsildar to take care of the infant’s treatment.
It can be noted that Sujatha had lost her husband about eight months ago and due to the recent floods, that devastated the Ghataprabha river basin, she lost even her house. Both these losses, plus the illness of her child, completely devastated her as she did not have financial support.
BSY had previously helped another woman, a widow waiting outside the Melukote Cheluvanrayanaswamy Temple, by directing the Deputy Commissioner of Mandya to release the blocked pension amount for her differently-abled son.
