Bengaluru: Sumalatha Ambareesh, who filed her nomination from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday may get the BJP support.
BJP State Chief BS Yeddyurappa had told media persons that Sumalatha’s popularity in Mandya has to be acknowledged.

“The BJP will contest in all the 28 LS seats, but in Mandya, the sentiments of the people is to support Sumalatha. The BJP candidate can withdraw candidature even at the last minute,” said BSY adding that Sumalatha’s popularity is only growing in Mandya. This statements however stands in contradiction to the statement by senior BJP leader KS Eshwarappa, who has said that the party will not support Sumalatha as BJP’s own candidate will be contesting from Mandya.

Appa-Makkalu must be taught a lesson, this is the general public opinion, said BSY referring to JDS Supremo HD Devegowda and his family.
The people will give a clear mandate to the BJP as against the remark of HD Devegowda of reducing BJP’s number to single digit. He told reporters that the coalition partners will not cross two-digit mark.

Yeddyurappa said the party will not be fielding any minority candidate this elections as their chances of winning is very feeble.
