Bengaluru: Calling Bengaluru as the epicentre of Covid in Karnataka, Health Minister K Sudhakar on Tuesday April 20 said that there is a need to work on war footing to face the situation.
Speaking to media persons here, he said that 70 % of the total cases are reported from Bengaluru. The all-party meeting chaired by Governor Vajubhai Vala will see attendance of Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa virtually as he is undergoing treatment for Corona. “The meeting will discuss the future course for Bengaluru and seven other districts in the wake of rising COVID cases, he added.
Sudhakar said that constructive suggestions by the opposition leaders too will be taken seriously and expressed the view that everyone has a role to play during this pandemic situation be it government or opposition. Further, he also expressed regret that the government was unable to provide a greater number of ICU beds to the patients due to the rising coronavirus cases. This is a worldwide phenomenon, he noted.
He called on people to strictly follow the norms, and cooperate in less spread of the virus. “Precautionary measures by people is everything,” he stressed.
Meanwhile Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, K.S Eshwarappa has expressed his shock on Governors intervention in controlling Covid spread in the state. Speaking to media persons, he said that he failed to understand why Governor has to call the meeting when elected MLAs and MPs could have managed the situation.
However, he said that the meeting might have been called to create awareness among leaders and whatever the decision taken at the meeting, will be for the states betterment. He added that though he was not in favor of another lockdown, Governors decision will be final.
