Bengaluru: As many as eight migratory birds died at the Kodambahalli lake in the Channapatna taluk of the Ramanagara district as the village sewage water was diverted to the lake. The locals alleged that wild elephants and leopards who also drank the lake water are now unwell.

According to the villagers, for the last few days, hundreds of migratory birds from Kokrebellur arrived at this lake but eight of them died after drinking the polluted lake water.

KS Nagaraju, a villager informed that the lake is surrounded by the forest and many other wild animals are also not well. “The concerned departments must act swiftly. Action should be initiated against those who released polluted water into the lake,” he urged.
