Bengaluru: There are many rumors spread regarding the Covid-19 vaccine, the responsibility of the media is to educate the public on the importance and safety of the vaccine, said Dr. KV Trilokachandra, Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a state-level one-day workshop for the media personnel, regarding the Covid-Vaccine Campaign, held today at the Mahatma Gandhi Media Center of the Department of Health and Family Welfare and in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations.
The media should publish positive cases at the field level to inspire confidence in the public, help them overcome the vaccine fear, encourage people to come forward to get the vaccine and help them reach their goals.
The Director of the Covid 19 vaccine Campaign, Dr. Arundhati Chandrasekhar, said “A month after the launch of the Corona Vaccine Campaign, 50 percent of progress has been made. And then progress is slowing down. She said that since the media plays an important role in ensuring people have confidence in the vaccine, they can be successful in our state if the media can transparently reach the right people.”
“The media should give more importance to news from the Health and Family Welfare Department, rather than to other news” She urged.
A workshop has already been held for Anganwadi and Asha activists regarding this, she said.
Deputy Director of the department of vaccine Dr. Rajani, Director of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Om Prakash Patil were present.
