Unseasonal rainfall reported from 17 districts

Bengaluru: There seems to be no end to the woes of the farmers. After January rains which affected the harvest related activities, now unseasonal February rainfall has been reported from 17 districts of southern and Coastal Karnataka region, bringing tears to the eyes of the farmers.

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the rain is expected to continue for the next 49 hours. On Saturday, cloudy weather has been prevailing in most of the districts.

Hailstorms are reported from Kodagu, Chitradurga, Chikkamagalur Hassan and Chamarajanagar which damaged mango and coffee flowers. 

The worst hit districts include Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chitradurga, Ramanagar and Bengaluru.

Normal life came to a standstill in Bengaluru on Friday night after heavy rainfall was reported from most areas. The vehicle drivers felt the heat as the potholes were filled with drainage water. No casualties were reported.
