ULB election: Cong puts up good show, BJP wins in M’luru, Davangere gets hung verdict

Bengaluru: Despite the confidence, the ULB polls came as a shocker to the BJP, which expected to sweep the polls. The Congress which was lagging in second place during the initial rounds, overtook the BJP in the ULB polls, leaving the saffron party worried. Mangaluru City Corporation and Kundagola and Jog Town Panchayats were the only Urban Local Bodies that the BJP could plant its victory flag. Davangere Corporation went into the hung verdict. 

According to the final trend, out of 417 seats across the state, Congress won 150 seats. BJP is in second place with 125 seats. JDS in third place with 63 seats. Independents and others won 78 seats.

City Corporations
Mangaluru City Corporation fells into the hands of the BJP, which bagged a massive 44 seats out of the total 60 seats. Congress bagged 14 and SDPI bagged two seats.
Meanwhile, in Davangere Corporation, the Congress bagged 22 seats, BJP won 17 seats, JD(S) settled with one and independent bagged five seats. With no party managing to get the majority, the Davangere Corporation witnessed a hung verdict.

City Municipal Council
As many as six CMCs went into elections and five witnessed hung verdict. Only Congress fort Kanakapura had the Congress retaining power.
*Gauribidanuru CMC which has 31 wards had Congress win over 15 wards, BJP win three wards, JDS win six and independent win seven wards.
*Chintamani CMC had an outstanding performance by the JDS, which won 14 seats. While the Congress won only one seat, the BJP failed to open an account. Two independent and 14 others have won here.
*Kolar too witnessed a hung verdict with the Congress winning 12 seats, BJP winning three seats, JDS winning eight seats and others winning one seat.
*Mulbagil, which has 31 seats had Congress winning seven seats, BJP winning two seats the JDS winning ten seats, independents winning 11 seats and others winning one seat.
*KGF had Congress winning 13 seats, BJP winning three seats, JDS at two, 14 independents waiving victory sign and three others.
*Kanakapura had the Congress sweep 26 seats, BJP settled with one and JDS win four seats.

Town Municipal Council
Three TMCs went into polls and all the three witnessed hung verdict.
*Kampli has 23 wards and BJP bagged 13 while Congress won ten.
*Birur has 23 wards. The BJP won ten, Congress won nine, JDS won two and independents won two.
*Magadi too has 23 wards out of which the JDS won 12, followed by the Congress at 10. The BJP won one seat.

Taluk Panchayat
Two TPs- Kundagol and Jog clearly fell into the hands of the BJP, while Kudligi had hung verdict.
*Kudligi has 20 wards, out of which the BJP bagged seven, Congress bagged six, JDS bagged four and independents bagged three.
*Kundagol has 19 wards out of which BJP bagged 12, Congress bagged five and independents bagged two.
*Jog has 11 wards, out of which BJP bagged nine, Congress bagged one and independent bagged one.
