Bengaluru: A major accident was averted after two coaches of 12786 Mysuru-Kacheguda Express detached on Friday evening.
South Western Rail (SWR) officials said two 3-A/C coaches(B1 & B2) got detached from the rest of the train between Byappanahalli and Channasandra railway station, about 14 km away from KSR Bengaluru. The incident caused panic among passengers and staff.
SWR officials said that coaches B1 and B2 were affected and that the B2 coach toilet collapsed on the track. There were no injuries but train services were disrupted. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The 24-coach train which started from Mysuru at 2.50PM passed Byappanahalli at 6.53pm and stopped near Channasandra station at 7.06PM.
