Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident, a three-and-half-year-old girl, the daughter of a police head constable, succumbed to burn injuries sustained after falling into burning waste in the Shivajinagar police quarters.
The deceased toddler has been identified as Harshali. She is the daughter of Cubbon Park traffic police station head constable Lokeshappa and his wife, Sudhamani.
Harshali sustained the burns on March 5 and succumbed to her injuries on March 13. The incident came to light after Lokeshappa uploaded an emotional letter about his daughter on Monday, March 25 evening.
In the letter, Lokeshappa questioned who is responsible for the death of his daughter. “Even though the Bowring hospital doctors sent a memo about the incident to the Shivajinagar police, they did not even turn up on humanitarian grounds. A case was registered only after my daughter’s death. No officer came calling,” he pointed.
He also pointed to the problems in the police quarters. “I am writing this letter to ensure that no other kid will meet this kind of fate,” he concluded.
