Bengaluru: Taking to Twitter on Thursday, April 9, former state minister and president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) D K Shivakumar called on the party workers to aid in the fight against the deadly coronavirus and “do our best to save the lives of people of Karnataka.
“…Hospitals across Karnataka are running short of blood. This is a call for able-bodied to volunteer & donate blood. Let us show solidarity with people in need,[sic]” he wrote in the tweet.

On Thursday, Karnataka saw a surge of COVID-19 cases as the total went up by 16 in 24 hours. As it stands, the state now has 197 COVID-19 cases as of the latest update released by the state health department.
The state also reported its sixth COVID-19 death today.
