Bengaluru: In a big shocker for students aspiring to join MBBS and BDS courses, the state government has agreed to increase the medical education fees by 15 percent for government quota seats in private colleges. There is no change, however, in the fee structure of government medical and dental colleges.

During a meeting between the state government and private college management representatives, it was decided that the fee for government quota medical seats in the private medical colleges should be increased to from Rs 97,350 to Rs 1,11,959. The fee for government quota dental seats in private colleges has been revised from Rs 63,030 to Rs 72,484.

The fee for COMEDK medical (all India) quota seat has been increased from Rs 6.83 lakhs to Rs 7.85 lakhs, whereas the dental seat fee has been revised from Rs 4.63 lakhs to Rs 5.32 lakhs
