Bengaluru: Amid protests from several social groups, the state government dropped its plans to cut 30% of the syllabus in the state school textbooks. Earlier, the state textbook society uploaded revised syllabus for this year as academic activities are crippled by the Covid-19 pandemic.
As per the revised syllabus, lessons on several freedom fighters including Tipu Sultan was dropped. After fearing pressure and protests from several social groups now the government has reportedly dropped this plan.
“It was mistakenly uploaded on the website. The decision to cut the syllabus has been withdrawn,” said S Suresh Kumar, primary and secondary education minister.
He also requested everyone to not politicise the issue. “We are aware of the sensitive nature of the issue. There is no plans to cut the syllabus as of now. All have been requested to remain calm and not make an issue out of this,” he appealed.
