Bengaluru: Welcoming Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s decision to hand over the phone tapping case to the CBI, Congress leader Siddaramaiah expressed his hope that the investigative agency would not be used as a tool for “political vendetta”.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, August 18, he wrote, “I welcome the decision of @BSYBJP to hand over the phone tapping case to CBI. But, in the past, @BJP4India has used CBI as its puppet to unleash its venomous political vendetta. Hope @BJP4Karnataka leaders does not have similar intentions this time.”

Siddaramaiah also reportedly asked that, while the government has ordered an investigation into the phone tapping case, an investigation should also be conducted into the “Operation Kamala” that the JD(S)-Congress coalition alleges, brought down the previous government.
Earlier on Sunday, CM BSY had announced the government’s decision to hand over the phone tapping case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after several other leaders, including Siddaramaiah, had demanded that a probe be conducted into the case.
It was rebel MLA and former JD(S) state president AH Vishwanath who alleged that the personal phones of around 300 leaders, including Siddaramiah, were tapped by the HD Kumaraswamy-led government.
Former CM HDK has, however, denied these claims and said that he is ready for any investigation in the issue.
