Bengaluru: In an interesting political development, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s political secretary and legislator M P Renukacharya met Congress leader D K Shivakumar at his residence on Wednesday, February 12.

This meet has sparked a lot of speculation especially among the BJP members and leaders. Reportedly, they are wondering if the legislator met DKShi to express his unhappiness over the BSY Cabinet expansion and the denial of a ministerial berth to him.

Later, while addressing the media, Renukacharya said that he visited DKShi at his residence to invite him to a programme being organized in his hometown.

“I met DKShi to invite him for a programme in my hometown. We share a good friendship and he is my political senior. Kindly do not compare me with him as I have still not achieved anything like him in the field of politics,” he said.

Rubbishing the rumours that he had decided to defeat DCM Laxman Savadi in the upcoming Karnataka Legislative Council elections scheduled for February 17, Renukacharya said, “I’m not of that cheap mentality. Why would I defeat Savadi, who is our party leader?”

Meanwhile, he refused to comment on the Cabinet expansion as assigning portfolios to the legislators is the prerogative of CM BSY.
