Remdesivir black-marketing: Man posing as MP Tejasvi’s staff arrested

Bengaluru: A man was arrested on Sunday June 6 for selling antiviral drug Remdesivir on the black market. He was claiming to be a staff member at the office of Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya.

The arrested has been identified as Chethan (26), a resident of Agrahara, Dasarahalli. The police acted against a complaint lodged by the BJP MP’s close aide, Bhanu Prakash.

According to police, Chethan, who was working in a local Covid war room sold the injection by using Surya’s name. He was caught when he called up a person known to Bhanu Prakash and offered to sell the drug for Rs 10,000. According Bhanu Prakash’s complaint, when he called up Chethan, the latter claimed to be a staffer at the MP’s office and gave his name as Shivalingaiah.

Further, the police informed that the arrestee will be questioned after getting his custody from the court.
