Bengaluru: The first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine was given to all prisoners in Karnataka over the age of 45.
About 15,000 inmates are lodged in various prisons in the state, with 2167 of them being 45 years or older.
According to reports, the second dose will be given in accordance with the revised vaccination protocols. The prison authorities will soon recognise deserving inmates between the ages of 18 and 44 who will be vaccinated.
The Prisons Department, with the assistance of the Department of Health and Family Welfare and the district administration, has begun vaccinating inmates on a war footing, including those on trial and those serving life sentences.
